I have not been at camp all month, but I have been preparing for camp every free minute.
We went, we did and we came home!
Camp was great this year. Our Stake has always camped in Ward groups, but this year we changed to camping in “level” groups. This was a great opportunity for the young women to get to know the other girls their age and to focus on their own certification requirements. There were many challenges to start with, but this was our best week of camp yet!
I love going to Mia Shalom. It is a beautiful camp which has been dedicated for the Young Women. Something special happens there.
Pam Boshard and two of our great YCLs, Peggy and Stephany planned an awesome Theme Hike based on our camp theme this year Be S’more” (Strong, Motivated, Obedient, holding to the Rod, and Example). We got up at 6:30 to hike to the Lone Pine. The YCLs bore testimony of the theme on the way up and right before we got to the Lone Pine the young women were blindfolded and led to the end by an adult or YCL. Our Stake Priesthood leaders spoke to us on top of the mountain. It was perfect experience. We unfurled the flag of virtue just like the general YW presidency did at Ensign Peak and committed to be virtuous women. Then we divided up and went on our hikes ending up with a 5 mile hike that day!
We also enjoyed skits that the girls made up, singing around the lake, star gazing, canoeing(sp), singing, crafts, reading the Book of Mormon in the House of Virtue, singing, first aid, certification, Miss Mia S'more Shalom Talent and Fashion show, singing, golden hour, singing, Bishop's night, singing, the Amazing Challenge Test, singing, eating, and just having a very good time!
I also made a new friend who went to Camp Oakcrest as a camper. We figured that out through the songs we both knew! It was a great time for me.
Today we sustained a new Bishop in our ward: Bishop Steven Allen Boshard. Bishop and Sister Boshard have been our friends since we moved into our home. Our lives have been intertwined for years. We love them and are excited for their blessing of service to our ward.
