I reluctantly went to our Relief Society Birthday celebration. I had come home from work late and rushed to get dinner for Ray and I was tired. Besides, it was a service auction and while I have always wanted to go to a service auction, I was not prepared with anything to take! I decided on a silly hat I had made and two crocheted head wraps. A rather pitiful donation! I went thinking I would leave after dinner and the program. To my delight, there was no program and the service items were displayed on the table. I saw this stack of books tied up with a gold ribbon and thought, "I would like to have that." So I stayed. Of course I was among VERY good company and I was having a good time. I decided to save my $$$ and bid on the books. However, I got carried away with bidding on a garden coach after she agreed to weed my garden while I go to camp! Anyway, the books were one of the last items and I bid---higher and higher and higher until I was out of $$$. Katie and Rachel gave me some of theirs and I won! I was so excited as I get very competitive. So, I was rather embarrassed when I realized what I had done.
When I got home, I unwrapped the stack to show Ray. There was a box of chocolates, gold nail polish, a nice journal, an exercise DVD and three books I wanted to read. The best was right in the middle, an envelope with a card! A darling card. "Oh, look," I said to Ray, "Even a card to write a note in." When I opened it up, there was a note just for me! And I realized that this was truly meant for me. I did not need any thing in the gift, but I really NEEDED that card!
So, Sister ? THANK YOU so very, very much!!!!
P.S. We have the best sisters in our ward. The all shared their $$$ with each other. What a better act of service could there be?
